Metris Seamless in a Harrogate kitchen/diner

Project Background
The brief
Harrogate-based Duncan and Sarah are a professional couple in their thirties. They were looking for an extension which would create a large, open-plan space for a kitchen/diner, and the brief was for a contemporary, highly functional space with uncluttered lines. As a keen cook, Duncan particularly wanted a practical layout with plenty of storage space. The main design challenge involved working around a low ceiling height and a structural beam: it was important to ensure that the large space felt homely yet contemporary.
The Metris solution
The kitchen/diner was conceived with Metris Seamless, featuring High-Gloss Sand fascias with integrated handles and 20mm Silestone Amazon leather-finish worktop. Bold contrast was provided by chocolate-toned Gloss Earth wall units, also with integrated handles, and feature columns. The tall units are in Gloss Sand while the island features touch-open Gloss Earth fascias with a 100mm Ceaserstone ivory surface. A pull-out 300mm larder, 150mm base-unit pull-out and 450mm large waste bins provided all the storage Duncan and Sarah need.
The new extension brought in lots of natural light through roof-lights plus bi-fold doors into the garden across the height and width of the room. Extra light was added with LED lighting fitted discreetly under the wall units plus flexi-plinth LED lights on the island. Interesting materials include the glass splash back in white aluminium metallic and a stainless steel effect plinth.
