Creating their own look in Hampshire

Project Background

The brief

Lou and Adrian live with their children in a detached 1980's family home in Winchester, Hampshire. The kitchen had been small and dark with old-fashioned cabinets, so as part of the transformation the wall between the kitchen and dining room was removed and a window was enlarged. The plan was to have a contemporary, curved kitchen with a light and spacious feel, suitable for family living.

The Metris solution

With the help of Bassett Homes, the couple chose a range of textures and finishes including wood veneer, shiny chrome and glass—all part of a monochrome theme lifted with bright splashes of vibrant orange. Gloss White units on two walls and a Black and White Zebrano island continue the monochrome theme, while curved base units in Zebrano, the S-shaped island and the interlocking teardrop-shaped breakfast bar add a softer, organic feel. Now, the spacious new kitchen/diner lets the couple practise their passion for cooking without having to be away from the children.
